Steven Spielberg is an American film director, screenwriter and producer who has worked tirelessly in the entertainment industry for over 50 years. Spielberg was born on the 18^th of December 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Although Steven and his parents were born in the United States of America, his Grandparents were from Ukraine and moved to Cincinnati. Spielberg's family were Orthodox Jews and this is something that he struggled to accept when he was growing up due to suffering from antisemitism. However, as he entered adulthood, this is something he was able to understand and accept. He was then able to tackle this within his filmmaking, showing that he is not afraid to address and raise awareness of issues within society, staying true to his own values and beliefs. 

From a young age, Spielberg showed interest in filmmaking and made his first feature length film 'Firelight' when he was only 16. Throughout his career, he has won many awards, such as Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards and Golden Globe awards, proving that he has been wholeheartedly embraced by mainstream audiences and critics.

By learning more about Steven Spielberg, we hope to encourage the class to believe that they are able to achieve anything if they show a determination to succeed and create a class culture where the children have high aspirations for their future.
