Peacock Class - Year One - Miss Horrocks

Jonnie Peacock

Paralympic Sprinter

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”

Jonathon Peacock is a Paralympian who won Olympic Gold in 2012 and 2016 Paralympics. At the age of 5, Jonnie contracted meningitis which lead to him having an amputation just below his right knee after the disease killed the leg tissue. Jonnie fought extremely hard to recover and whilst he was getting a prosthetic leg fitted in hospital, Jonnie was encouraged to participate in a Paralympic talent day. This led to an exciting and successful career in sprint racing. Jonnie has even competed in Strictly Come Dancing alongside Oti Mabuse!

Jonnie has had to overcome adversity to get to where he is today. He aims to inspire others to persevere despite what life throws at them, he wants to be recognised for his achievements and not his disability.  We would love for our class to be inspired by Jonnie’s hard work and perseverance to encourage them to continue in the face of adversity.

Remote learning - Monday 24th June

This week we will be learning about the lives of Lenny Henry and Rafa Nadal. Can you find out any facts about their lives?

We are consolidating our knowledge of fractions, can you explore and measure different types of nature. Can you then find half and quarter of the objects you have measured?

We would like you to go on a bug hunt and sketch what you find. Spend time thinking about tone and texture of your insect.

Enjoy reading your favourite book in your favourite place.

Dont forget to send photos to our class email with all your amazing work!
