Jonnie Peacock
Paralympic Sprinter
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”
Jonathon Peacock is a Paralympian who won Olympic Gold in 2012 and 2016 Paralympics. At the age of 5, Jonnie contracted meningitis which lead to him having an amputation just below his right knee after the disease killed the leg tissue. Jonnie fought extremely hard to recover and whilst he was getting a prosthetic leg fitted in hospital, Jonnie was encouraged to participate in a Paralympic talent day. This led to an exciting and successful career in sprint racing. Jonnie has even competed in Strictly Come Dancing alongside Oti Mabuse!
Jonnie has had to overcome adversity to get to where he is today. He aims to inspire others to persevere despite what life throws at them, he wants to be recognised for his achievements and not his disability. We would love for our class to be inspired by Jonnie’s hard work and perseverance to encourage them to continue in the face of adversity.
