Farah Class - Year Three - Miss Mazerolle

Mo Farah

British Olympic athlete

“No matter what or where you come from, if you work hard at something you can achieve it" - Mo Farah.

Mo Farah is a multiple Olympic, World and European Champion athlete. He has accumulated ten global titles which includes the 'double double' of gold medals over 5,000m and 10,000m at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games.

His achievements are a far cry from his beginnings in Somalia, he arrived in London at the age of 8 with his twin brother after fleeing from the wars in his home.

His achievements grew from a young age as he was recognised as a fantastic athlete by his sports teacher. He was a successful junior athlete and this followed him through his career. Mo Farah has recently retired from sports this year after finishing his last marathons. However, Mo's hard work and determination does not stop as he works hard to help other people in need. He is an ambassador for Save the Children and created the "Mo Farah Foundation" in 2011 in order to support health and education in Africa and the UK.

We are looking forward to learning about Mo and his determination and dedication to his career from a young age and hope that this will inspire us to have the same determination in our learning in Year 3.

Remote Learning 24th June 2024

Good morning Farah class,

As we are not in school today, here are some activities for you to complete at home!

Maths - Comparing unit fractions.

I would like you to look at the below questions and complete them. Remember that unit fractions have a numerator of 1. So you have 1 out of the total amount. For example, If I had ⅓ and you all had 1/10. I would have more as I only share with 3 people meaning my slice is bigger.

Compare these unit fractions using the correct symbols.

English -

For English this week, we are looking at an inspirational person called Stevie Wonder.

I would like you to find out-

  • Who is Stevie Wonder?
  • Why is he famous?

History-  How were the pyramids in Egypt built?

Using the theories below, can you find the words in the theory that support it (meaning it gives reason for why) and words in the theory that are against it (meaning it provides you with a reason why this might not be true). There is an example for you below.

Then think about which one you believe is the truth and explain your reason why.

Think about which ones make the most sense, remember they are theories which means that there is no right or wrong answer.

If you would like to, you could also create a mini pyramid model using recycling from your home!

Enjoy your day,

Miss Mazerolle
