Spring Meadow 'Supporting Hands' Foodbank

Spring Meadow's Supporting Hands

Here at Spring Meadow Primary School & ‘School House’ Nursery we have recognised an increasing need to set up a food bank for our most vulnerable families. This is a long term campaign to ensure we are supporting our community as fully as we can. It will ensure we can provide non-perishable food items and basic toiletries and it runs alongside our uniform exchange system. So how does it work?  Well the Inclusion Team here at Spring Meadow are running the Supporting Hands on behalf of the whole school and there are 4 easy steps to go through. If you are struggling to provide meals for your family due to whatever situation you have found yourself in please do come and speak with us. We really are here to help if we possibly can.

Step 1 - You can either approach Ms Neal or Mrs Donnegan on the gate in the morning or the end of the day, or give us a quick phone call or email on the contacts below:

Telephone: 01255 504528 either option 2 or 6.

Email: supportinghands@springmeadow.essex.sch.uk

Step 2 - We will ask you to complete a few questions, not to pry into your business but to help us ensure we give you the supplies best suited to your family’s needs, for example we will need to check if there are any allergies within your family etc.

Step 3 - As you leave school in the afternoon after collecting your child/ren pop by the school nursery and one of the Inclusion Team will be there to hand you your bag of provisions.

Step 4 - If there is anything in the bag you do not use for whatever reason we would ask that you kindly return this to us and let us know so we can switch it out if you ever need to use Spring Meadow’s Supporting Hands again in the future.

We have been able to secure some funding to start our food bank off, but to keep this up and running, so it is there to support our school community as and when families need it, we are also appealing for donations of non-perishable food and new unopened toiletries. If you feel in a position to be able to help please drop these into the Inclusion Team based in the School Nursery building.
