Social Justice

Social Justice

“the fair distribution of wealth and opportunities within a society” The Oxford Dictionary

Our Children

  • Listen to other people’s opinions
  • Speak up when they know something is not right
  • Take an interest in news and events in our local and global communities
  • Ask questions and think critically (what is your opinion?)

Our Staff

  • Refuse to accept any form of discriminatory language or actions (including ‘banter’)
  • Give children the opportunity to explore key issues, encouraging critical thinking
  • Be careful to remain neutral to allow children to form their own opinions
  • Make appropriate adaptations to environment, curriculum, timetables, and expectations to allow access for all
  • Ensure pupils are part of the decision making within class

Our Leaders

  • Commit to eradicating discrimination in any form
  • Ensure all stakeholders have a voice and know they will be listened to and part of the decision making processes for the school
  • Provide opportunities within the curriculum for the consideration of local and global issues
  • Ensure that the curriculum is accessible to all children
  • Monitor the progress of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups to ensure that any gaps in attendance, attainment and progress are closing

Our Parents

  • Encourage their children to take an interest in news and events in our local and global communities
  • Be careful to remain neutral to allow children to form their own opinions
  • Speak up and talk to the school when they feel something is not right
  • To use their voice appropriately within the school systems to share ideas and visions.

Our Governors

  • Commit to eradicating discrimination in any form
  • Ensure all stakeholders have a voice and know they will be listened to and part of the decision making processes for the school
  • Monitor the work of the school to ensure that the curriculum is accessible to all children and that any gaps in attainment and progress between vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their peers are closing
