Scott Class - Year Four - Mrs Atkins

Jill Scott

English footballer and 'Lioness'

“You have to believe in yourself, and believe you can add something” – Jill Scott

Jill Scott was the captain of the England women’s football team when the team won the Euros in 2022 at Wembley. She was born in Sunderland and has scored 27 goals for England in her career. She plays midfield and has earned 161 senior international caps after her 2006 debut.

She was, and still is, an incredibly popular member of the Lionesses’ team and as often been described as the funny one. She started playing football at 6 years old and has many other talents besides football.

In 2020 she was awarded an MBE in recognition of her service to women’s football. She has a football pitch named after near Newcastle, courtesy of the FA and Government’s Football Foundation as they celebrate their commitment to deliver facilities that provide equal access to women and girls playing football.

We are looking forward to learning about her and aspiring to have as much resilience and determination as she has for football in our learning this year in Scott Class.
