Year 1

Over the last two weeks May Class have had a very naughty visitor! You may have heard us talk about Poppy the Dragon and all the mischief she has been causing around the school and all the apology letters we have had to write! We decided that we could no longer keep Poppy the Dragon and she left us for her new home at Dragonland Fire Station. We all wrote Poppy a goodbye letter and on Friday we walked to the post box to post our letters!

For Philosophy Day we focused on exploring and discussing religious artefacts. We spoke about what we could see, how they may be used and why are they significant.

Before half-term we were very lucky to have our seaside explorers trip! We learnt about how to look after the beach, what we can find on the beach and even used binoculars to look far into the sea! It was the perfect experience to have alongside our topic on the oceans and inspired us to teach others how to look after it!

In Art we have been learning about the work of Molly Haslund. She uses her whole body to create circular art! After studying her work for the last few weeks we had a go ourselves on the KS1 playground using chalk.

During outdoor learning May Class made apple juice! They loved collecting their apples before beginning the juicing process!

Last week we started our topic on the History of Dinosaurs. This week we explored what a palaeontologist is and what their job entails.
