Nursery

This week in Nursery we have been focusing on numbers to 10. We have been counting objects we have found, ordering numbers and even had a go at forming the numbers in sand.

This week in Nursery we have been working on our fine motor skills. The children have been taking part in a variety of different activities targeted to develop hand strength.

This week in Nursery we have linked our cooking to our book The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. We talked about the Gruffalo and the mouse's favourite food in the story. The children worked as a team to make their own Gruffalo crumble. They used rolling pins to crush the biscuits, spoons to mix the chocolate in and chose the toppings they would like add to their Gruffalo crumble.

This week in Nursery we have been learning all about dinosaurs by taking part in a variety of different activities. We learnt about paleontologists by taking part in our own dino dig. The children used brushes and careful strokes to look for bones in the sand. In the maths area we used bricks to measure the dinosaurs to see how many bricks tall they were. We also used words such as big, little, tall and short. In the art area the children used resources with different textures for printing to make their own dinosaur egg.

Our topic this week in Nursery has been Transport. We have been learning about different types of vehicles and where we might see them such as on the road, in the air or out at sea. The children enjoyed exploring the different marks the vehicles could make in the paint, talking about the different patterns they could see. We also made our own car pictures by using different wooden shapes for printing.

This week the children in Nursery celebrated Nursery Rhyme Week. They enjoyed singing different nursery rhymes and some them even dressed up as their favourite characters!

The children enjoyed creating firework paintings for Bonfire Night.

In Nursery, we have been focusing on the story 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We have been experimenting with different toppings on our porridge to see which were our favourites. Before tasting our porridge all the children helped to make the porridge. The children had a selection of fruit, honey, syrup and jam to choose from. Once we had picked our toppings we used a thumbs up to show the toppings we liked and a thumbs down for the toppings that we didn't like.

This week in Nursery we have harvesting the last of the produce that we have been growing in our growing garden. The children all helped to pick the tomatoes. We talked about the different colours and sizes of the tomatoes.
