Great Fire of London Day- 2nd April

Willson and Bath class enjoyed a fun-filled day linking to their history curriculum of the Great Fire of London. The children dressed up as if they were from 1666 and took part in a range of activities. They had a chance to make bread, paint tudor houses, hunt for Samuel Pepys' cheese in the sandpit, taste a range of cheeses, diary writing with quills and a water relay. After all of this fun, the children were surprised with a re-enactment of The Great Fire of London where some of their houses they had create were burnt down! We finished the day with a sing-a-long of 'London's Burning!'.

Science- Materials

In Science, we have been looking at a range of materials and their properties. The children have predicted the strongest materials and explored the different properties that make up the materials. To finish our material topic, the children have created a double page spread which shows their knowledge of each material explored and gives some ideas of objects seen everyday made from these materials.

DT- Yoghurt Bars

During DT, the children looked at healthy alternatives for snacks. We looked at yoghurt bars and how we could add different fruit to make it tastier. The children came up with some fruits they may want to add. We then created the bars in groups and practised skills such as chopping, mashing, peeling and grating. Afterwards, the children tasted the yoghurt bars and evaluated them!

We also linked our DT to our English topic which was 'How is honey made?'. We decided to add honey into our yoghurt bars as a tasty treat.

Remote Learning 21st March 2025

Here are some photos of Willson class playing our new times table matching games. It requires them to work together as a team to match the number sentences to the answers. However, if they don't flip over the correct answer they have to try again! They have really enjoyed working in groups for this!

Here is of our artwork that we did this week where we explored using natural materials outside to create shapes and patterns.

Willson class spent the afternoon using the app PicCollage to create their own versions of images of Jack and the Beanstalk which links to our literacy focus of narratives.
