Aim High, Inspire, Make a Difference
Our stories this week has been linked to the topic of Pirates. We have read a selection of stories such as 'Ten Little Pirates' and 'Don't disturb the pirate'. In the garden we built a pirate ship using wooden blocks, pretended to sail the ship and had a go at walking the plank. The children enjoyed balancing whilst walking the plank or jumping into the ocean to see the sea creatures.
This week the children have been exploring different textures in the art area. Using 'That's not my turtle' book as a prompt, the children chose different textures for their tortoise shell, using words such as 'sparkly', 'bumpy' and 'soft'.
For music this week the children took part in a variety of different music and movement games in the garden. The children had to listen carefully to the music and had to complete the action given, sometimes using their whole bodies to create the movement as well as singing some of their favourite songs. All of the children had lots of fun and kept asking for more!
Our topic this week in Nursery is minibeasts. The children have been exploring the garden looking for different minibeasts, using different shapes to make a bug collage as well as using wool to weave to create a spider web.
Our book focus this week was 'Rumble in the Jungle'. We learnt about different animals who live in the jungle. The children made 3D crocodiles using boxes and made their own binoculars to go on a jungle hunt in the garden. The children had lots of fun pretending to explore the jungle and were excited to name the animals they found.
We have been celebrating Easter in Nursery this week and have been taking part in different Easter themed activities. The children were given the challenge to see if they could make an Easter egg pattern using the pattern cards as a guide. The children enjoyed talking about the different colours in the pattern and had to use these fine motor skills to squeeze the eggs together.
This week in Nursery we have learning to recognise our name and have been talking about the different letters we find in our names. The children were given the challenge to choose the letter blocks their needed to write their name for their rocket.
Our story this week is Jack and the Beanstalk. During our circle time this week we talked about planting and what a seed needs to grow. The children helped to plant some beans in our little greenhouses which we have put on the window. We are looking forward to watching them grow.
This week in Nursery we have been focusing on numbers to 10. We have been counting objects we have found, ordering numbers and even had a go at forming the numbers in sand.
