World Book Day
We couldn't finish World Book Day week without a mention of the World's favourite children's author, Roald Dahl.
We know that Roald Dahl wrote many very famous stories such as Matilda, The BFG, George's Marvellous Medicine, The Twits, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and many more loved books.
I want us to focus on the 'whoopsy wiffling' vocabulary that Roald Dahl created and used in many of his stories and I would like you to have a go at creating your own bonkers words.
Watch this short clip which mentions some of his interesting and creative vocabulary and have a look at his hand written notes below from when he was constructing some of these quirky words.
Can you experiment with language like Road Dahl and come up with some interesting words to describe our school? Maybe you have some ideas about particular teachers with stand out personalities throughout the school which you could describe using Roald Dahl's humorous techniques? Have fun with this and feel free to add illustrations to go with your vocabulary. Feel free to use the official Roald Dahl website for ideas.
