If you're wondering why our class is named after Sweden (like we were), it's all thanks to our teacher Miss Flory. You see, when Miss Flory was our age, she lived in Sweden and grew up in Stockholm. We didn't believe her either until we saw some photos! Miss Flory decided that calling her class Sweden would help her to teach us about the country itself and use her own knowledge and experiences.
What we have learnt so far
As our class is named after Sweden, we thought it would be perfect to learn more about it.
In our geography at the start of the year, we looked at the location of Sweden in the world. We identified it in a map of Scandinavia, Europe and also on a globe.
On the map, we began to identify the surrounding seas and countries and also where the capital (Stockholm) was. Can you find it on the map below?

At the start of the year we looked at Viking runes and how these were used to communicate. We then wrote our names in runes to put on display in our classroom. Can you use the alphabet to write yours?
