SPaG

SPaG

SPaG stands for Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. In your daily lesson we will give you a focus for you to complete.

We have looked at how an apostrophe shows possession. When an object belongs to someone.

E.G.                                   Sam’s coat.

Now we're going to look at other ways we can use an apostrophe. We also use an apostrophe to show missing letters in words. We do this when we add two words together. We use them daily in our speech, so we have to make sure we are writing them correctly.

This is called the ‘contracted form’ or ‘contractions’.

E.G.                                     I am   ->    I’m

                                           I will   ->    I’ll

                                       You are  ->   You’re

                                    They are    ->   They’re

Apply the rule to these words to make the contracted form.
