Reading
The Brothers Grimm
Today, for World Book Week, we are looking at short stories. Fairytales are often some of the first short stories we become familiar with as children.
The Brothers Grimm, German folklorists, wrote many of the famous fairytales we know today such as, Rapunzel, Hanzel and Gretel, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Rumpelstiltskin. These tales were written over one hundred years ago, but are still some of the most read and remembered tales, often due to their darker and more frightening content.
Have a listen of the audio book of Rumpelstiltskin.
Why do you think that these sinister fairytales are still so popular?
