In phonics today, we are going to recap the tricky word their.

Tricky words are words that we cannot sound out yet. We know some of the GPCs in the word but not the tricky part.

What GPCs do we know in the word their?

Can you think of a way of remembering how to spell their?

E.g. Their is a word that describes someone’s belongings. I remember the ‘i’ as a person.

Main task:

Can you write a sentence using the word – their?

E.g.It is their turn to play.

Challenge

How many times can you spot the word ‘their’ in this paragraph?

Today was my friend’s birthday. For their birthday they asked for their favourite food which was cake. There were so many different cakes! There was no way anyone could eat this much! Everyone had lost their minds at the amount of cake. When the party began everyone was asked to choose their favourite cake to eat.
