Phonics

Phonics

In phonics today, we are going to recap the tricky words could and oh.

Tricky words are words that we cannot sound out yet. We know some of the GPCs in the word but not the tricky part.

What GPCs do we know in the words could and oh? Which part is the tricky part?

Could is a tricky word because the /ou/ does not make the sound we know, instead it makes the same sound as the /u/ in p/u/t . We also do not sound out the /l/.

The  ‘o’  in oh makes the sound of its letter name and you do not say the ‘h’.

Can you write the words using a different colour to show the tricky part of the word? The pictures above will help you.

Main task:

Can you write me 2 sentences using these words? You can also draw me a picture of your sentences to go with it.
