Healthy means looking after our physical, mental and social wellbeing. There are lots of different ways to stay healthy, including exercising often, eating healthily and having a happy attitude. Why do you think being healthy is important?
Today we are going to be focusing on healthy eating.
To achieve a balanced and healthy diet we should aim to eat food from each of the different food groups. The food groups are fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, proteins, dairy and unsaturated fats. The Eatwell Guide below shows how much of what we eat should come from each food group to achieve a healthy, balanced diet. This doesn’t mean that we need to achieve this balance with every meal but we should try to get this balance right over a day or even a week.
With this is mind, I would like you to design a meal or packed lunch that incorporates each of the food groups.
