Describe means to give more information about something.
The rotation of an object is the way it turns and by how much. An object can turn in a clockwise or anti-clockwise motion. We use quarter turns, half turns and three-quarter turns to describe how much something has turned.
2D shapes are completely flat, they have sides and vertices. An example of a 2D shape is a triangle.
Today we will be using the terms ‘clockwise’ and ‘anti-clockwise’ to describe the directions the rotations are happening. We will also be using the terms ‘quarter turn’, ‘half turn’ and ‘three-quarter turn’ to describe how much the shape is rotating. Use the image below to help you learn these new terms.
