Spring Meadow Football Team-Treble Winners
Congratulations go to our outstanding footballers who have achieved the treble this season, a first for our school, after successfully winning the Fisherman's Cup this weekend.
66th Fisherman’s Cup Final
Saturday 6th May 2017
Spring Meadow 1-0 All Saints’
On Saturday the prestigious local cup was once again contended by two teams from the local area, Spring Meadow and All Saints. A hotly contested fixture, it was a high tempo match which saw only a few good chances for both sides due to some excellent defending, particularly from man-of the match goalkeeper from All Saints.
Halfway through the first half, Spring Meadow broke the deadlock with a goal from Oliver Burgoyne. A few minutes later, another chance was cleared from the All Saints line. As the game neared its end, All Saints pressed forward, testing the Spring Meadow goalkeeper on two occasions.
At the whistle, the score remained at 1-0 to Spring Meadow. This was the completion of Spring Meadow’s finest ever season which has seen them win all three of the football trophies for the first time in their history: the Fisherman’s Cup, the League and the 5-a-side. Their teacher Mr Pallett said, “This has been a truly fantastic season. I hope the boys remember what they done for the rest of their lives and that they know just how proud all of Spring Meadow is of all that they have achieved”.
