About Hayao Miyazaki

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animator and storyteller, born in Tokyo, 1941. His passion for drawing began from a young age where he would draw the planes from his father’s company, Miyazaki Airplane, which provided parts for World War II. 
 

His love of drawing grew and in 1985 he co-founded a company called Studio Ghibli, famous for works such as Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro and Howl’s Moving Castle. The reason he creates his pieces, are purely to spread good messages to others.

I chose Hayao Miyazaki for our class name because our passions are very similar. I love to be creative, both with drawing and storytelling. He is also very insistent on creating pieces of work that promote positivity and good feelings, both of which I am a firm believer in.
