About Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo, was a Mexican painter. She was known for her self-portraits. Frida was born in Coyoacán, Mexico. As a child she had polio that left her disabled. She studied medicine and planned to become a doctor. However, at age 18, she was in a traffic accident that badly injured her, as a result she did not continue her medical studies. However, whilst recovering in hospital, Frida began painting and she soon became a well-known artist. Her paintings are influenced by native Mexican culture using bright colours, tropical flowers and exotic animals.

We have chosen Frida Kahlo as our inspirational person due to her strength and resilience to achieve her goals despite having many struggles with her health. We hope that this can encourage and motivate our children to overcome any obstacles in their lives that they might face. We believe that every child can achieve their own greatness.
