About Dolly Parton
Born: January 19th 1946 (age 75 years) Pittman Center, Tennessee, U.S.
Dolly Parton was born in a one-room cabin on the banks of the Little Pigeon River in Pittman Center, Tennessee. She is the fourth of twelve children born over a period of 20 years and before her mother was 35.
Dolly's parents were very poor but Dolly knew she had a gift and was determined to make the most of it. She began singing and writing songs from an early age and by the age of 10 she had a job singing on a local radio station, which she fitted in while still attending school.
From such humble beginning, her determination and hard work has taken her from poverty to a position where she was able to donate $1million to support the development of the COVID vaccine in the USA. She has also donated millions to various charities including those supporting childhood cancer sufferers, and has been a long term advocate of the value of education.
