About Aretha Franklin

Aretha Franklin was a U.S. singer and songwriter. She defined the golden age of soul music in the 1960s and was crowned the “Queen of Soul.”

Not only was she a renowned singer, she also played a big part in the black civil rights movement in America and had the honour of singing at the inauguration of Barrack Obama.

I chose this amazing woman as our inspirational person as she wholly represents our whole school values of ASPIRE and has written many songs that reflect this. What better person to have as our role model than a woman who had the perseverance to succeed in a world where the odds were stacked against her.
