I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the team that will be supporting the children this academic year.
I am Miss Larue, the class teacher, and working alongside me will be Miss Brennan and Mrs Eldridge.
I am Mrs Donegan the class teacher and I would like to introduce the team working in Shark Class this year. We have Mrs Claydon, Mrs Baker, Mrs Kadlec and Mrs Taylor. We are all focused on ensuring our learning is active and fun as we move through our topics this year.
We work following a cross-curricular approach using literacy and numeracy skills across many areas of school life. We value presentation and will be having a drive on handwriting. This is to ensure that we give children every chance to take pride in their work involving content and presentation.
Homework will be sent home every Friday and will involve handwriting practise, times tables and the half-termly creative homework. This is to encourage children to share their learning journey with everyone at home and we do appreciate all the time and effort that goes into supporting them with this. Alongside this, reading at home is a big focus and we would like to see children reading at least three times a week. The children in Puffins are rewarded for signatures in their reading records, with a grand prize of their own book to keep after one hundred signatures!
PE kits will need to be in school every day. The kit should consist of shorts, plain t-shirt and plimsols. In the winter your child may wear a tracksuit. We would recommend that any child that has earrings to remove these for the day unless they are confident at removing and putting them in by themselves as we are unable to do so. You will be notified when your child will be taking part in swimming.
If you have any questions in relation to your child please feel free to speak to the office to arrange a meeting.

We recently went to Walton-on-the-Naze where, we are proud to say, the children behaved beautifully. We were very lucky and the weather was warm and sunny. We started by learning about the cliffs and the various layers and then created sand sculptures, looked at sea creatures in the rock pools and finally fossil hunting. We had so much fun exploring the beaches and we found many 'treasures' to bring back. Amongst them, a 50 million year old sand shark's tooth!
