I have been a parent governor since March 2013. I have two boys, my eldest beginning Spring Meadows in year two while my youngest started in reception. As can be the case when starting a different school at a later stage, there is a settling in period where new friendships are made and a place found in the class. Throughout this time William's teachers and TAs were very supportive which meant this time was a lot less stressful for both William and parents. Benjamin on the other hand although starting in reception was extremely shy but in a very short space of time his confidence grew and he has grown year by year.
We have had nothing but positive experiences with the school whether that be its day to day learning, breakfast club, after school clubs or extra curricular activities. Both boys have grown in confidence physically, mentally and socially since beginning at Spring Meadows in 2010.
I am hoping by being a parent governor I can give something back to the school. I am on the Parent, Community and Curriculum committee and have responsibility for RE and PE.
I am also on the FOSM committee and through my work as community coordinator for our local Asda, hope to be able to support the school in that role as well.
